Bridging Communities: THEA’s Commitment to Honoring Military Service

As we enter May, and indeed every month, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) stands united in expressing our deepest appreciation for the men and women who serve our nation. At THEA, we recognize the invaluable contributions of our military personnel and their families and are committed to supporting them in every way possible.

One of the key ways in which THEA extends its support to the military community is through maintaining close ties with MacDill Air Force Base. This connection is fostered through various avenues, including volunteerism, sponsorships, and providing safe and efficient travel options that connect base employees to their homes.

Our CEO, Greg Slater, who actively participates in the Honor Foundation, is at the helm of THEA’s dedication to honoring military service. The Honor Foundation is a nonprofit organization that assists transitioning Navy SEALs and Special Operations personnel in finding fulfilling post-service careers. Through his involvement with this esteemed organization, our CEO not only provides guidance and mentorship but also helps facilitate a smooth transition for these brave individuals as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

Slater also participates in MacDill Air Force Base’s honorary base commander program. This program, designed to foster collaboration and mutual support between the base and the local community, allows THEA to play an integral role in the base’s operations and initiatives. By serving as honorary base commanders, THEA’s leadership actively engages with military personnel, gaining insight into their needs and concerns and working together to address them effectively.

In addition to these ongoing efforts, THEA recently sponsored MacDill’s AirFest, an event that celebrates the heritage and accomplishments of the United States Air Force. By supporting events like AirFest, THEA demonstrates its unwavering commitment to honoring the military and fostering a strong bond between the base and the surrounding community.

As we reflect on the sacrifices made by our service members, past and present, let us remember that gratitude knows no bounds. Whether through acts of kindness, volunteerism, or simply expressing our appreciation, let us stand together in solidarity with those who have bravely served and continue to serve our nation. At THEA, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting our military community and ensuring that their sacrifices are never forgotten. Together, let us bridge the gap between our communities and honor the heroes among us.
