Traffic and Construction Updates

#TRAFFICALERT: On Tuesday, March 19, a section of the Reversible Express Lanes (REL) will be partially closed from 10:30 AM – 1 PM for survey work.

🔹 Westbound access into downtown will close after 10 AM
🔹 The entrance ramp between US 301 & 78th St. will be closed
🔹 Normal operations will resume no later than 1 PM

Plan accordingly and drive safely!

The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) will be performing bridge maintenance at the Selmon West Extension bridge over Gandy Boulevard. The work will be performed between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM starting on Tuesday, March 11th and will be completed by Thursday, March 13th. Crews will use the median on Gandy Boulevard to transport materials to the bridge, with most of the work being performed inside the structure. The crews will perform up to three rolling closures per night with a safety vehicle blocking traffic from traveling on and under the bridge for up to fifteen minutes at a time.

The City of Tampa is constructing a new water main that will require northbound and southbound Meridian Ave. to be closed over the weekend of March 14th-17th between Cumberland Ave. and Whiting St.

🔹 Closure Schedule:
➡️ Southbound Meridian closes at Kennedy Blvd. on Thursday, 3/13 at 9 AM, briefly reopening Friday morning for peak traffic before closing again Friday PM until Monday 3/17 at 5 AM.
➡️ Northbound Meridian closes Friday, 3/14 at 7 PM and will reopen Monday, 3/17 at 2 PM.
➡️ A single northbound lane closure will remain in place the following week.

Detour routes are in place—plan ahead! This is a City of Tampa project, so please stay alert and allow extra time for travel in the area.
