LEE ROY SELMON EXPRESSWAY

The Lee Roy Selmon Expressway is a 17-mile all-electronic toll roadway that links Pinellas County, West Hillsborough County, Downtown Tampa, Brandon, Southern Hillsborough County, and beyond as an arterial artery. The expressway feeds into downtown Tampa, offering Selmon customers an efficient and safe drive into the urban core. It also is the most direct route for residents and visitors commuting into and out of MacDill Air Force Base, reducing dangerous cut-through traffic through neighborhood streets. The facility is a limited access toll road with an upper deck for express travel, the Reversible Express Lanes (REL). The REL provides additional lanes for westbound travel during the morning commute from Brandon to Tampa and eastbound travel during the evening commute and on weekends. The revenues collected are used to improve, maintain, and expand all of THEA’s assets and are re-invested in the Tampa Bay community.

Thanks to the Selmon West Extension, customers can connect with the expressway at the south end of the Gandy Bridge and drive all the way to I-75 in Brandon without a stoplight.
