THEA Advances Transportation Innovation with Successful V2X Interoperability Tests at Wyoming’s Archer Test Track

The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) continues to support groundbreaking transportation technology with its involvement in the USDOT Vehicle to Everything (V2X) Interoperability Tests at Wyoming’s Archer Test Track. The highly successful tests hosted by the Wyoming  Department of Transportation allow for continued data collection and assessment marking significant steps toward safer transportation systems nationwide.

Sisinnio Concas, Program Director at the University of South Florida’s Center for Urban Transportation Research (USF CUTR), expressed his excitement about the tests stating “This week generated valuable results and data, crucial for advancing the V2X National Deployment Plan. Excited to continue supporting these efforts!”

The V2X system is designed to provide vehicles with 360-degree awareness of threats and hazards. It will have the ability to prevent accidents and congestion while ultimately improving safer traffic flow. The testing scenarios were designed to replicate complex, real-world traffic, ensuring  the technology can perform reliably under various circumstances. The data collected helps ensure that V2X systems will work efficiently even in the most  challenging cases.

THEA remains committed to supporting the impressive new technology as the V2X moves closer to implementation. This week’s tests bring us one step closer to the future of transportation, prioritizing safety and efficiency. Thanks to the support of the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Wyoming Department of Transportation, for a great week of successful testing.
