Know Your Access Points: Selmon Expressway Reversible Express Lanes

Planning a trip between Tampa and Brandon? Knowing where to access the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway’s Reversible Express Lanes (REL) can help you plan your route before you hit the road.

The REL adjust direction to match traffic demand, reversing between westbound and eastbound travel throughout the day. Before each reversal, the lanes are cleared of traffic to help ensure there are no stranded or wrong-way vehicles when the direction changes. Drivers are guided out of the REL before the lanes reopen in the opposite direction.

Westbound: Brandon to Tampa

Drivers can access the REL at:

  • Brandon Parkway/Town Center Boulevard
  • I-75
  • 78th Street
Eastbound: Tampa to Brandon

Drivers can access the REL at:

  • Meridian Avenue/E. Twiggs Street
  • 34th Street slip ramp
  • US 301 slip ramp

As the REL transitions from one direction to the other, drivers should follow posted signs and roadway guidance and never enter the lanes when they are closed or operating in the opposite direction.

Knowing the access points and understanding how the reversal process works can help drivers plan ahead and travel safely along the Selmon Expressway.
